Getting us Back on Track
Unfortunately in November of this year a small fire broke out in our railway workshop destroying our trains. Around 35 engines, carriages and wagons were lost as well as a number of model buildings and all of our tools.
While we are insured some of our trains are no longer in production, others were specialist items and may only be found in online auctions, often at inflated prices. While we wait for an Insurance payout the trains are not running, visitor numbers are down and the income that we rely upon from the tearoom has dwindled putting our livelihood at risk.
Could you help us get our trains back on track and into the hands of our young visitors?
Our hope is that if we can raise the £1500 to replace some of the children's trains our visitors will return giving us a fighting chance of surviving until our Insurance comes through.
When do we need your help?
Christmas is usually a busy season, bringing back visitors now will make a big difference.
What happens if we don't need all of the funds raised?
Where possible we will find the best prices as well as approach train manufacturers for help. (one kind UK company has already offered help to supply trains that the older children drive at a discount)
If we receive more money than we are asking for the remaining funds will be used to improve the railway. We have plans to rebuild our oldest station to allow younger children to get much closer to the trains, we also hope to build a cargo dock so that they may unload and store cargo and parcels as well as improving access to one of our smaller "training railways". We also continually improve the railway whether it's constructing new model buildings or planting in the garden.
How might you help in other ways?
We've also lost all of our toy passengers and cargo. Over the years we've received donations of Postman Pat, Peppa Pig, Fireman Sam, Ben & Holly and Playmobil figures - all of which are an ideal size for riding on our trains. Perhaps your children have grown out of them? If so we'd be happy to give them a new home on our Railway.
